For Historic Hotels of America & Worldwide

Your history, experienced — not just displayed.

Guests point their phone at a portrait, an artifact, a staircase — and your property's story comes to life. They can ask questions and get answers in your hotel's own voice. And for the first time, you can see exactly which parts of your building guests engage with.

The gap

Your legacy is preserved. It isn't activated.

Every historic property is full of stories. Very few of them reach the guest standing three feet away from them.

What happens today
What happens with Strax
Guests don't read signs. They're on their phones, tuned out from anything that doesn't grab them instantly.
Curiosity is the triggerGuests scan the object they're already curious about. No extra step, no ignored placard.
QR codes and links add friction — they demand action before delivering anything.
Engagement by intentEach scan opens a story tied to your history, your dining, your events. Driven by the guest, not an algorithm.
Beautiful artifacts and architecture generate no bookings, no upsells, no data.
Moments that convertA story can end with a spa offer, a table reservation, or a reason to book the same suite again.
Your history is powerful, but it isn't turning into revenue, connection or insight.
Measured, and yours to changeSwap content whenever you like. See exactly what guests engaged with, where and when.
The guest journey

Four steps, about ninety seconds.

01 · See

A quiet invitation

A guest arrives, curious. A discreet card or sign reads "Scan to Discover."

02 · Scan

They point their phone

At a portrait, a piece of memorabilia, an architectural detail — whatever caught their eye.

03 · Experience

The story arrives

A short, beautifully told piece of your history. Yours in voice, tone and content.

04 · Convert

Curiosity becomes action

A reservation, an upgrade, a return booking — or simply a guest who tells the story on.

New

Ask Strax — your guests can ask. Your hotel decides what it says.

A story is one thing. A guest with a question is another. Ask Strax lets a visitor standing in front of a portrait ask about it and receive an answer — and it answers in your hotel's voice, not the internet's.

This is the part that matters for a historic property: you author the questions a guest is offered, and you author the instruction behind each answer. Nothing is improvised. Nothing is invented. Your historian's work stays your historian's work.

You write the questions

Each activated object carries the specific questions a guest may choose from — written by you, approved by you.

You write the answers

Behind each question sits your own instruction, invisible to the guest. The AI narrates within the boundary you draw.

You set the limits

Response length, tone, and what happens when a question falls outside scope — a webpage, a reservation, or a member of staff.

You decide, object by object

Guests may also photograph something else on your walls and ask about that. You enable or disable it for each object individually.

A guest asks about Lincoln, and hears your account of Lincoln.

New

And you finally learn what your own building is doing.

Not estimates. Every scan, every object, every location — measured.

  • Heat maps across the property. See where guests actually stop, which objects hold them, and which corridors they pass straight through.
  • Engagement by object. Which portrait earns ten minutes and which earns ten seconds — and what to do about it.
  • By date, hour and season. When your guests are curious, so you can place a promotion where it will actually be seen.
  • Across 182 countries. Scan activity reported worldwide, in every language the platform recognises.
  • Real time. Not a monthly report after the fact. What happened this morning, this morning.

This complements your existing marketing analytics rather than replacing them — and it tells you something none of them can: what guests do inside the building.

The Omni Homestead Resort, 1766.

A National Historic Landmark and founding charter member of Historic Hotels of America.

Omni Hotels & Resorts

The Jefferson Parlor, activated

Dozens of historic paintings, portraits and architectural details across the resort.

The Omni Homestead turned its iconic Jefferson Parlor and lobby into an immersive Strax experience. Guests explore the resort through an AR and AI-powered scavenger hunt, unlocking hidden stories, rewards, and on-site bookings for dining and spa.

Staff fielded fewer repeat questions, freeing them to focus on hospitality. The experience was spotlighted in a Virginia Living holiday feature and in a Virginia tourism campaign, reinforcing the resort's position as a modern steward of its own legacy.

The property promoted the experience actively — and that made the difference.

“With StraxAR™, our history came alive and so did guest engagement. The Jefferson Parlor became more than décor — it became a conversation, a booking engine, a moment guests remembered. No lift for my team, no compromise to the space, and a clear return on both emotion and investment.”

Licensing

Scaled to your property, not to a price list.

Annual licensing, quoted to your building. A boutique inn with a dozen stories and a flagship resort with two hundred are not the same engagement, and we do not price them as though they were.

Priced on activation volume — how many objects, rooms and details you want to bring to life.
Annual licence, full CMS access — your team controls the content for the whole term.
Member discount applies — preferred pricing for Historic Hotels members at every level.
Event add-ons when you want them — weddings, seasonal programmes, corporate retreats.
Structured to your budget cycle — including split payment across fiscal years where that helps.
Start small if you prefer — a single meaningful activation, then expand once you have seen it work.

Tell us about your property and we will quote it properly — usually within a few days of walking the space with you, in person or on a call.

Ask for a quote

Is your property marking a major milestone in 2026, 2027 or 2028?

An anniversary is the most natural moment to bring a property's history to life — milestone stories, historic recipes, commemorative cocktails, the founding year told properly. We will design the experience around it.
Questions general managers ask

The practical answers.

Who creates the content?

We do, or you do, or both. Strax supports content creation with branded video, voiceover, AI prompts, overlays and scripts tailored to your goals and brand guidelines. Production is available as an add-on, and scavenger-hunt scripting and layout design are included for first-time properties.

Will this add to my team's workload?

Very little. There is some light back-end management in the CMS, similar to updating web content. Your team controls content updates, the platform is straightforward, and onboarding and support are included. Setup, site assessment, layout planning and the technical work are ours.

How long does setup take?

Most properties are live within two weeks. We handle site assessment, layout planning and technical setup. As a reference point, The Verb Hotel's 111 activation targets were configured in eighteen hours of on-site work.

Can this match our brand guidelines?

Entirely. Every visual, every word, every interaction aligns to your brand. Guests see your property, not our software.

How often can content be updated?

Whenever you like, at no cost. Content can be rotated, sequenced or personalised — evergreen stories, seasonal refreshes, promotional swaps. Returning guests can unlock new material rather than repeat the same experience.

How do we measure results?

You receive regular reporting with real-time data on scans, engagement and guest behaviour by target, location, date and time. Strax data complements your existing marketing analytics rather than replacing them.

Do guests need to download an app?

Yes — StraxAR is free on the App Store and Google Play, and one on-property QR code handles the download. From that point on there are no QR codes: guests simply point at what interests them.
